Angel is a giclée print of a digital collage combining fragments of painting and found imagery, inspired by recent travels to Italy and a growing interest in Catholic iconography. This work reimagines the angel as a figure who traverses worlds and identities, while exploring the impact of religious iconography on gender and sexuality in Puerto Rican and American culture.
About the Artist
Chloe Luisa Piñero is an artist and educator from Philadelphia, PA. With a focus in painting and collage, Piñero extracts imagery and objects from her physical and digital environments to make work that references her personal histories, while posing larger questions about personal and collective identity around image, objects, and material.
Piñero exhibited in CYBER HEALING in 2020 at The Latinx Project.
