About the Work
This photograph is part of a series that considers climate change--sea levels rising and erosion--that are visible on the Ruta del Sol, the Pacific coast line of Ecuador.
Over the last few years I have been photographing the landscape along the Pacific Coast of Ecuador. The topography of the land has been shifting because of rising sea levels, drought and garbage (mostly plastics) washing on the shore. Residents near the shore are in an unwinnable fight with the sea. They cover the mountainside with plastic and place rocks along the shore but the tide rises undeterred.
