About the Artwork

Touch Receptors is an ongoing series of abstract drawings that began in 2013 and through which I consider marks and mark-making in relation to sensory nerve endings found in our skin and tactile sensations sent to our brains. After a three-year break, the series resumed in 2020 at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the drawings have also explored concepts of disruption and collapse, as well as mapping and dislocation—subjects I explore in other media, including video, installations, and site-specific works.
